Gossip Cate Blanchett to star in new Lesbian Movie

A film adaptation of Patricia Highsmith's lesbian love story "The Price of Salt" is set to begin filming in early 2013.
Cate Blanchett and Mia Wasikowska have been cast as the central characters in an intense story of passion and betrayal set in 1950s New York. The original book was enigmatic for its time, published in 1952 at a time when lesbian story lines were there to titillate audiences rather than be taken seriously.
The film, called "Carol", will follow a young woman, Therese, who works in a New York department store and dreams of a more fulfilling life. She meets Carol, an elegant older lady and the two venture into a world that neither are prepared for.
BAFTA winning John Crowley will direct the flick and award winning duo Elizabeth Karlsen and Stephen Woolley from Number 9 Films are set to produce it.
