HowTo create a beautiful boudoir

boudoir

Turn your bedroom into the perfect romantic lair...

Clean up your act

Messy is not sexy. So make sure the floor is clear, and there is no rubbish lying around. It also worth getting rid of any teddy bears or unsuitably childish trinkets that distract from the seductive mood you are setting. Remember you want to room to scream sex goddess. The only clutter permitted will be clothes torn off in a moment of passion! Also remove any objects that might remind you of the real world and your obligations or chores. The boudoir should be a haven, free from the stresses of the real world, where you can just let go and loose yourself in the pursuit of pleasure.

Let there be light

candleSome ambient lighting is the best way to get you in the mood for a night of passion. Lighting should be sensual and shady, not too harsh or bright to ensure you are at your most relaxed. Think low lights that can be placed under the bed, and small lamps or fairy lights dotted around the room. Overhead fixtures are fine for practicalities like getting dressed, but smaller light sources create atmosphere. Also, they may seem tacky but coloured bulbs make a flattering, flirtatious alternative to glaring fluorescent bulbs. Soft pinks and reds are ideal. Candles are another obvious option; just make sure you put them in a safe place, as the only full-blown fires we want to ignite are those of passion.

Stimulate the senses

chocolatesLooks are not everything, so create an environment that appeals to the full range of senses. There is a direct link between scent and arousal so keep your boudoir smelling sweet with incense, essential oils or fresh flowers. A vivacious vanilla or spicy sandalwood are some great options. Another important element is sound: the bedroom should be for sleep or sex, and the evening news is not a suitable soundtrack for getting it on. Turn off the TV, and put on your favourite tracks to really enhance the mood. You could even keep a stash of delicious treats like chocolates and strawberries (both known aphrodisiacs) next to your bed for a truly naughty surprise.

Good enough to touch

You want your seduction pad to be strokably soft, so fabrics like sexy satin, silk sheets, fur rugs, lace and velvet are a must. Again go for warm, romantic colours such as pinks, purples and reds to set the mood and drape them decadently over the bed, and any chairs or tables. With such a tactile temptation your chosen victim will not be able to resist touching everything around her, including her host.

Mirror, mirror

On the walls, or even on the ceiling if you are feeling particularly saucy! But seriously, mirrors create space if you boudoir is unfortunately the box room, and add a cheeky touch to any seduction. Mirrored furniture is also unashamedly glamorous and decadent: mirrored lamp bases, chests and trinket boxes are perfect, and create a sparkling surface for any candles or ambient lights to twinkle off.
