Teenage lesbian bandits dubbed ‘Thelma and Louise’
A teenage lesbian couple have been dubbed the ‘Thelma and Louise bandits’ after stealing $30,000 from 29 homes.Harley Rose Gifford and Britney Singleton, both 19-year-olds from Pennsylvania, hit headlines after burgling cash, iPods, toys, toiletries, trainers, make-up and jewellery.
The pair claimed that they encountered a lion in one home. This claim has not yet been verified by police, as there was no-one at home when they called.
Upper Darby Police Superintendent Michael Chitwood told the Philadelphia Inquirer: “They just enjoyed stealing. They used people’s homes as their own private shopping centre.”
Other, more bizarre items stolen include a .22-caliber revolver, knives, a Virgin Mary statue, a hookah pipe and marijuana.
According to the Daily Mail, the pair were arrested at their flat and taken into custody. They were arraigned on 25 counts each of burglary, criminal mischief and trespass, theft and receiving stolen property.
