Glee character to be brutally outed (spoilers)
Santana (played by Naya Rivera) is to be abruptly outed by Finn (Cory Monteith) in a heated argument.
After Mercedes (Amber Riley) is voted head of The Troubletones, Santana starts making up rumours about Finn to upset him. When he finds out, he tells her to come out so that she can stop making everyone as miserable as she is.
This is overheard by someone involved in the Congressional race, who (ridiculously) uses it to start a smear campaign against Sue Sylvester (Jane Lynch), using the slogan "Sue Supports Lesbians!" Using photos of Santana, a homophobic poster campaign is used to insinuate Sue's a lesbian too.
Santana makes it through the episode without having a breakdown, but slaps Finn in front of the whole school at an event.
The series has been commended for its representation of LGBT issues by GLAAD, winning Outstanding Comedy Series Award at their media awards in 2010 and 2011.
