Former t.A.T.u star releases statement after bandmate's anti gay remarks

lena09smallAfter the highly controversial comments of her former bandmate Julia Volkova, Lena Katina decided that she needed to make her own views know. Taking to her Facebook page the singer made the statement:

"God is teaching us to live in love, to be tolerant and not to judge other people!"

Katina continued: "Love is love and it is a wonderful feeling! I think everybody should be free to love who they love and be with who they want to spend their life with! Xoxo"

t.A.T.u were considered gay icons when they hit the music scene back in 2002 with the hit All The Things She Said. But while both singers came out as straight, Katina has continued to show more tolerance and understanding. When Russia, last year, brought in their anti-gay law banning the 'promotion' of homosexuality to minors, PinkNews quoted her saying "a lot of people from the government with the big positions are gay. Why people can’t be free?"

Lena is definitely our favourite member of t.A.T.u.
